Meeting of the Fire Commission Submitting a report on the death of Dennis Mulcahy, hoseman engine 21, who was killed by smoke asphyxiation ad shock from burns while working at the Auditorium fire, Page and Fillmore streets on Nov. 7.

Report filed and secretary to send communication in proper form to mother of deceased.

The Chief Engineer called attention to the courtesy of Supervision J. Emmet Hayden in providing the Municipal Band at the funeral of Dennis Mulcahy. He was in the service 19 years.

THE FIRE

Dennis Mulcahy, hoseman, with Engine No. 21, reaching the fire in response to the first alarm shortly before 1 o’clock, was caught by a backdraft with two companions in the rear of the Auditorium and smothered to death by the smoke.

Mulcahy, who lost his life in the fire, was the sole support is widowed mother and a sister, Margaret, with whom he lived at 866 Haight street.  Both women collapsed went told by Father Joseph McQuaid that Mulcahy was dead.

MULCAHY FUNERAL TOMORROW

Funeral services for Dennis Mulcahy, hoseman, Engine 21, smothered to death in the burning structure, will be held tomorrow morning at Sacred Heart Church. Members of Engine 21 will act as pallbearers. Mulcahy is survived by a widowed mother and sister.

Edward Materne, truckman, believed to have been fatally injured, was reported doing well at St. Joseph’s Hospital yesterday.

 LAST TRIBUTE PAID FIREMAN MULCAHY

Solemn high mass was held yesterday in Sacred Heart Church for fireman Dennis Mulcahy of Engine Company 21, who lost his life at the Auditorium last Sunday. The church with crowded. The Fire Commissioners attended in body.

Members of Engine Company 21, Oak and Broderick streets, were pallbearers, A special detail of 100 firemen, headed by Chief Murphy, Commissioner Joseph Sykes,  and the Municipal Band, led the funeral cortege.
