1939 Ahrens-Fox HS-85 Wooden Bascule Aerial Ladder Truck

Builder: Ahrens-Fox, Cincinnati, Ohio.  Tractor: A 6 cylinder Hercules HXE motor, number 321821, 225 horse power, 5 ¾ " bore x 6" stroke, 935 cubic inch displacement, shaft drive with a new style bumper with a curve in the center.

Tillered Trailer: 85-foot, two section, “Bascule” wood aerial with an electric-hydraulic raise powered by four 12-volt batteries. Also included was a high-pressure nozzle on bed ladder.

Crew: Officer and 6 Firemen

Members of truck companies could and can be identified at fires and other emergencies by their red and white quartered, and black brimmed helmets.
